ability“能力，能耐，本领”。“有能力做某事”应表达为the ability to do sth，而the ability of doing sth.是错误的表达

inability“无能”，例i can’t understand his inability in figuring out the math problems.我无法理解他这种在数学上的无能。

enable“使能够”，有两个搭配：1 enable sth. 例：the conference will enable greater（进一步） international cooperation.这个会议可以进一步增进国际间的合作。2 enable sb. to do sth,例：a rabbit’s large ears enable it to hear the slightest sound.兔子非常大的耳朵可以听到最轻微的声音。this dictionary can enable you to understand english words.字典能够使你了解英语单词。

enrich（1）“使富有”，例：the discovery of the oil will enrich the country.石油的发现将使这个国家富有。（2）“使丰富，使充实”，例：reading can enrich our minds.读书可以丰富我们的思想。

enlarge“使放大”，例：enlarge the photograph放大照片。enlarge one’s horizon扩大某人的视野。horizon我们把hor想象成horse马，zon想象成zone区域，一匹奔腾的骏马突然停了下来，站在地平线上，突然扬起两个前蹄，背后一轮红日冉冉升起。因此horizon表示地平线。

enslave“使成为奴隶”，例：the captives were enslaved by the ¹ army.这些俘虏们沦为奴隶。her beauty enslaved many young men.许多年轻男人都拜倒在她的石榴裙下。

entitle（title标题）（1）“命名”；（2）“赋予权利”，例：this ticket can entitle you to have a free meal in this hotel.这张票可以让你在这个旅馆免费地吃一顿饭。

encourage（courage=c our age我们这样的年纪都需要勇气，来面对流言蜚语，只要你一个眼神肯定，我的爱就有意义）“鼓励，使有勇气”，反义词discourage“使泄气”。

able“能…的；有能力的”，其的名词ability，搭配为be able to，able的反义词为unable“无能的”。

expected（可期待的）- unexpected（意外的）

equal（平等的）- unequal（不平等的）

employed（雇佣的）- ⁴（被解雇的）

capable“有能力的”，其名词capability，与able的最大差异中于搭配：be able to的主语必须是有生命的人或动物，而be capable of的主语也可以是无生命的事物。例：the company was not capable of handling such a big order.这个公司没有能力处理这样一个非常大的订单。

capacity表示“容量，空间”，电梯上有一句话：15 person capacity。

cap=catch，cold，head比如上课时有那些会学习的同学就能迅速地catch my idea抓住我上课的主旨要义，这种能力叫capacity，“学习并掌握技能的能力”。例：she has great capacity of learning english.她有非常好的学习英语的能力。而ability和capability表示“做事情的能力”。

capture“抓捕，俘虏”；

disabled“残疾的”，例：these seats are especially reserved for the disabled.此为残疾人专用座。但在生活中，一般形容一个人精神上残障用“slow side”，身体上残障用“physically challenged”
