during the first ten months of this year, mainland's export to taiwan reached 16.96 billion us dollars, up 27.1% from last year; its import from taiwan climbed to 71.07 billion us dollars, up 18.9% from last year. mainland's trade deficit to taiwan reached 54.11 billion us dollars, increasing by 16.6% over last year, according to the report. from january to october, mainland approved 2,932 taiwan investment projects, decreasing by 6.6% from last year. the actual use of taiwan investment reached 1.7 billion us dollars, 1.2% less than last year. by the end of october, mainland had approved altogether 71,027 taiwan investment projects, and the actual use of taiwan investment reached 43.46 billion us dollars, 3 for 6.5% of the total overseas investment absorbed by the mainland.
